Kendall - How boxing has helped my confidence

I’ve been coming to the Youth Zone for about 3 to 4 years now. When I first joined Legacy, I just wanted to meet new people and make friends, and that’s exactly what I’ve been able to do. I spend a lot of time in the music room because I love singing and playing the piano, but I also enjoy the sports hall for basketball and the art room where I can draw.

The Youth Zone has become so much more than just a place to hang out; it’s my safe place, the one place I run to when things are hard. Over time, I’ve achieved things I never thought I could, like doing a solo performance at the Winter Community Day earlier this year. I’ve also joined the Youth Voice so I can play an active role in shaping the service for other young people, and I even attended a fundraising event, Golf Day, where I shared my journey to help raise money for the charity.

Boxing has also been a huge part of my experience here; it’s helped me regulate my emotions and improve my overall well-being. Looking ahead, my aspirations are to become a tattoo artist and to work as a therapist on a psychiatric ward. The Youth Zone has given me the support, confidence, and opportunities to start building towards that future.
