Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to attend?

Annual membership for the Youth Zone will be £5, with each visit costing young people just 50p.

One critical factor in the success of the OnSide Youth Zone model is the voluntary relationship that exists between the Youth Zone and its members, i.e. the young people that attend do so because they choose to, and never because they have to. This is key to developing positive, healthy relationships between young people and the staff and volunteers – which enables the Youth Zone to deliver high quality, engaging youth work to those that need it most. It is also vital that the Youth Zone maintains its cover charge of 50p per session. Income from young people only amounts to around 10% of annual turnover but it is important as it creates a sense of value, ownership and equality.

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend that Junior Club members book their session in advance, this can be done via the Booking System on https://www.legacyyouthzone.org/book-a-session - you can pay for your sessions in advance for the term. Each session cost is 50p.

Senior Club members can turn up on the relevant day and pay 50p at the door.

Do I need to pay for each activity I do?

You only need to pay for attending the daily session - you can take part in as many activities as you'd like once you're in, and will not have to pay separately for each activity you take part in. All you need is your 50p entrance, and anything additional if you'd like food or refreshments from the Big Love Kitchen.

Will food and drink be available?

In the Rec, you'll find the Big Love Kitchen where you can get a nutritious hot meal for £1. Additionally, you can buy snacks in the tuck shop including crisps, chocolates, drinks and our famous slushies.

Can I have a tour of Legacy before joining?

You can arrange a tour with a member of staff on your first visit to Legacy.
Parents and carers can only attend pre-arranged and during the first 30mins of our session at 4pm, alternatively you can come during the daytime at an arranged time with a member of staff.

Can parents and carers stay at Legacy whilst members take part in activities?

Only members, staff, volunteers or invited guests are allowed to be on site whilst sessions are happening. Parents and carers are not allowed to stay on site for the duration of time they are at Legacy to Safeguard our members.

If you have any questions about your child whilst they are with us, then you can contact our Reception team who will be happy to help. You can call on 020 3976 9990.

However, if you attend Inclusion sessions on Sunday's then parents or carers can stay on session.

Why are you searched before entering Legacy?

All members will be wanded before entering the youth zone and any bags brought in will be searched. This is part of our Safeguarding at Legacy, and we do it for everyone avoiding any discrimination.

What Covid-19 measures do you have in place?

Legacy Youth Zone follow Government guidance, and specific guidelines set by the National Youth Agency.
Currently anyone over the age of 11 is required to wear a face covering indoors at Legacy Youth Zone unless exempt. Members are allowed to remove the mask when eating at the Big Love Kitchen or taking part in sports activities. Staff can remove their face coverings in the office and rooms if well ventilated and safe to do so.

Please also follow the following guidance in order to keep all staff, members and visitors safe at Legacy:

- Use the temperature checker before entering
- Wash hands frequently and use the sanitiser station at the entrance and around the Youth Zone.
- If you’re unsure of anything then speak to our youth workers and they’ll be able to help

Please call us on 020 3976 9990 or email us on talk2us@legacyyouthzone.org if you need someone to talk to.

Safeguarding

The safety of our young people and staff members is a key priority, to do this we make sure that our staff go through a thorough induction in which they complete a DBS check and undertake level 1 and level 2 training.

We then do regular refresher training. As an organisation working with young people, we have a safeguarding policy outlining the way we manage safeguarding concerns, here is our safeguarding policy in case you would like to look through it.

You can download our Safeguarding Policy below.
