Training Kitchen

The Training Kitchen is an area where members are taught the fundamental aspects of cooking.

They are taught basic food hygiene principles i.e. washing hands and ensuring work surfaces and utensils are clean before any food preparation takes place and thereafter.

Kitchen safety is also taught, learning about the different equipment and how to use them appropriately, such as holding and using knives and kitchen scissors correctly.

Identifying ingredients and when to use them is also taught.

What can be done in the Training Kitchen?

The Training Kitchen is a safe environment and an exciting opportunity to be creative and learn various skills during meal preparation.

Maths comes into play, in order to problem solve, I.e. portions sizes may need to be doubled, halved so adding and subtracting maybe required.

Things we like to do in the training kitchen includes:

All recipes can be taken home and shared with family and friends.

I love coming to the kitchen and cooking, I've learned to cook egg fried rice, chicken, pasta from scratch, plus lots of baking. I like that I can repeat the recipe when I get home too, and my family are impressed with that.
