On 18 March 2022 the Media Squad were fortunate enough (or you may say lucky enough) to go to the UFC weigh-in event at the o2 stadium. The journey from Legacy included two train rides, but it was worth it since we were lucky enough to get VIP tickets, as part of the new partnership that was announced between OnSide (Legacy’s parent charity) and the UFC. Guys, guess what happened next… we got off the train and walked to the stadium!
Okay, being serious, when we arrived at the UFC London weigh-in event we were guided to our seats where we could see live reporters, cameras and professional MMA fighters behind the scenes. We saw the fighters getting weighed before their fight the following day.
Another advantage of having a VIP ticket was we were able to meet UFC Founder & CEO Dana White and interview him; one question we asked was ‘what inspired you to do this job?’ His response was “passion and hard work and my love for sports“. At the end of our visit we went back stage and tool a photo with Dana and Middleweight UFC Fighter Leon Edwards – this wrapped up our trip nicely.
Finally, we were all gifted a mini bluetooth BumpBoxx as they’re a sponsor of UFC – this was a nice gift to receive.
