Legacy Youth Zone Hosts Their First Careers Fair

On 7 March 2022, Legacy Youth Zone hosted their first Careers Fair, inviting Croydon’s young people to find out more about work experience and apprenticeship opportunities.

Twelve local organisations were in attendance including The Royal Navy, The Army, The Royal Air Force, Service Graphics, London Square, Sutton District Training, Lio Bites and Flawless Pageants. All were eager to speak with young people to let them know about future career opportunities to be had now and in the future.

Employability and Training Coordinator for Legacy, Reanne said “It was fantastic to have young people from Croydon’s schools and colleges come along to our careers fair. The conversations and questions asked were really positive and it was great to have local organisations speaking with them about apprenticeship and work experience opportunities. We were also able to discuss our Employability and Training Programme – Empowered for those that were aged 18+.

50 people were in attendance, and there were a range of career interests including vet, graphic design, healthcare professional, accounting, chef, engineering and more. There were some of course that didn’t know what they want to do in future, so it was a great opportunity to hear from professionals about the potential in their industries.

14 year old Iovana said “I got to talk to lots of people about different jobs and about their experiences in their work place. All of the staff were very friendly and enthusiastic!

Legacy will endeavour to run a Careers Fair at least once a year to expand the horizons for the next generation.
