We recently launched gymnastic sessions in the performing arts room for junior members and the tram lead felt it was a good time to host an floor gymnastics competition, for the juniors to showcase and compete all that they have learnt in the last couple weeks from attending. So we advertised our first competition on Thursday 11th September and received a total of 20 juniors that signed up.
The aim of the competition was to create a sequence of floor gymnastic movements within groups of 5. The movements that were demonstrated within the sequences are techniques that Michael (performing arts youth worker) has been teaching the juniors over the past couple of weeks. Prizes and medals were given out to the best groups who had teamwork, technique quality and performance quality within their sequences. The competition went super well! each group discussed, what was the best way to highlight each others strengths while making sure they all felt comfortable with the overall performance. Prizes and medals were given out to the best groups who had teamwork, technique quality and performance quality within their sequences. Congratulations to all that participated, every sequence went super well and super proud of each group for taking part and keeping a positive mood throughout.
